MAME is an acronym for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator. This utility falls under the general description of emulation software. Briefly MAME emulates an arcade machine to allow you to play arcade games on your home PC. Mame was the brainchild of an Italian genius Nicola Salmoria. It allows the user to download "ROMS" or rather file-based images of the original arcade machine ROMS onto a PC (or Mac) and run the game on the host machine as if it was an arcade machine. This ensures that the old arcade classics will be preserved and enjoyed by future generations of gamers (without having to use coins or tokens!). Interested?
